As per media report, Yogi Adityanath led BJP Government in Uttar Pradesh is planning to appoint an independent and autonomous society to manage Jaunpur Medical College. The news has also been confirmed by a formal announcement made by Medical Education Department Principal Secretary Rajneesh Dubey. In his announcement, Mr Dubey said that UP Government will setup an autonomous society soon which will look after the selection of staff members of the medical college and also expedite the teachers’ selection as well as other staff members including nursing and paramedical staff.
Selection by Autonomous Society not PSC
Earlier, the selection of staff members for Jaunpur Medical College was done through Public Service Commission. However, this exercise would last for nearly 2 years and therefore students studying at Jaunpur medical college use to suffer. To overcome this challenge, the UP Government has decided to appoint an autonomous society which will take care of hiring and selection of staff members for the college. The decision to appoint an autonomous society for Jaunpur Medical College was taken at a Cabinet meeting led by UP CM Yogi Adityanath.
Appointment of an autonomous society to manage medical colleges in the state is a tried and tested process in Uttar Pradesh. The Medical Education Department of UP has successfully completed the selection process for various Government Medical Colleges based in the state at Ayodhya, Basti, Bahraich, Firozabad and Shahjahanpur with the help of autonomous societies set up for these colleges. The same procedure will now be adopted for Jaunpur Medical College.
As per the latest update, Jaunpur Medical College has already approved selection of staff members for 57 posts including the post of college principal. The selection is underway for the rest of the posts on offer at the medical college.
