As Southwest deserts begin to sizzle, so do deals in the region. In Arizona, Experience Scottsdale has set up an online one-stop shop for visitors seeking bargains on everything from resort getaways to cool (literally) attractions. Go to www.ItsThatHot.com. You’ll find links to Scottsdale hotels for as little as $51 a night this summer. Before you book, be sure to find out about any added fees. For example, that $51 room for two at the 3 Palms Hotel, comes with a 21+ percent “tax” per night – about 50 percent higher than the usual Scottsdale room tax. The luxe Boulders Resort & Spa is offering rooms from $129 a night, but it tacks on a $30-per-night resort fee. Such hidden surcharges can take a bite out of bargains.
