The new Yamaha MT-15, which comes sporting an assertive styling, is slotted between the FZ V3.0 and the FZ25 in the two-wheeler manufacturer’s line-up. Read on to know about out the MT-15’s price and features.
Yamaha MT-15 2019 has been launched in India at ₹1.36 lakh (ex-showroom). The bike, which had become available for bookings here last month, is the naked version of the Yamaha YZF-R15. The new Yamaha bike comes sporting a rather assertive styling, quite like the R15. The new MT-15 is slotted between the Yamaha FZ V3.0 and the Yamaha FZ25 and faces competition from bikes such as the KTM 125 Duke, Bajaj NS 200, TVS Apache RTR 200, and the Bajaj RS 200 too.
Motofumi Shitara, Chairman, Yamaha Motor India Group of companies, said, “Today’s customers look for variety and diverse range of products. We at Yamaha will always try to introduce new biking experiences and excite them with products and and services that exceed customer expectations. Yamaha will offer three motorcycle series in India under “The Call of the Blue” campaign, the ‘R series’, ‘FZ series’, and the new ‘MT series’. With the new trends of motorcycling in India wherein the riders want diverse experiences with speed and controls, the entry of MT-15 is inevitable. The launch of the new MT-15 will further multiply the brand’s excitement as it would entice customers in exciting, stylish, and sporty motorcycling with its unique torque and agility along with design excellence and engineering.”
The new Yamaha MT-15 features styling cues from the MT-09; it gets a full-LED dual headlamp, a chiselled fuel tank, and a fully-digital instrument cluster. For suspension, the new bike in India gets telescopic front forks in chrome finish and monoshock rear suspension. Braking duties are tended to by a 282 mm disc up front and a 220 mm disc at the rear. Oh, and the alloy wheels get a black finish instead of the red found on the model retailed in international markets.
The company is offering the 2019 MT-15 in two colour options: Metallic Black and Dark Matt Blue.
Though the MT-15 2019 borrows quite a bit from the R15, there’s one distinctive provision — the box-type swing arm instead of the YZF-R15 V3’s aluminium swingarm. The Yamaha MT-15 also gets dual-channel ABS.
The Yamaha MT-15 2019 is powered by the same 155 cc motor as the one that does duty on the Yamaha YZF-R15 V3. It puts out a maximum power of 19 bhp and a peak torque of 14.7 Nm. The engine is paired to a six-speed gearbox with a slipper clutch.
